Sooo.........

So, I'm still here, and still fat.  It's a fact.  I've gained a lost probably 100 pounds or so since we last spoke.  Why, because that's what we do.  It is.  I wish is wasn't.
So, where I'm at today: fat.  Really fat.  I was about 20 pounds from my highest weight when I went to the Dr for my checkup the other day.  Soooooo not good.  So, we had a little chat, led by me because my Dr is awesome and won't push anything on anyone who isn't ready.  I told her I was seriously considering Gastric Sleeve.  I've looked into it.  I've hounded my insurance to cover it, and they do now.  My Dr and I discussed it a little.  One of the steps to being approved for any gastric surgery is having discussed your weight with your primary care physician.  She wanted to try something before we got to that next step.  There is a new drug on the market called Contrave.  Its all the rave.  (Had to.  I'm not sorry.)  Its a combo of other drugs.  It is supposed to be a great appetite suppressant, and has really been shown to help some people.   I asked about side effects, etc.  Some jitters, a little insomnia (not a concern when you don't sleep already).  That was about it.  So, I'm game.  I will try anything and if it is the tool I need, then great.  I would love to avoid the surgery.
The Dr told me to look for coupons online.  Good thing she did.  My insurance will cover surgery, but no weight loss meds (stupid I think).  Without a coupon, a month's supply is $240!!  With a coupon, it comes down to $70.  I can handle that.

I wish I had blogged about this from day one, I'm on day 4, because I would love to have discussed the real side effects with you as they started.  Let me give you a run down.

Day one:  Took the pill.  Felt ok.  A little jittery and slightly nauseated.  Didn't need or want food.  Totally good to go.  I was able to eat exactly how I wanted to.
(My own diet plan that I lost over 100 pounds on before is a meal replacement bar for breakfast, one for lunch, and a healthy low calories dinner).
Day two:  Took the pill.  Thought went somewhere, and nearly threw up n my car.  Hadn' felt that bad since the last time I was pregnant.  I googled it. Turns out, nausea and headaches are two very common side effects, and the reason most people quit this stuff.
Day three: Took Aleve for my headache, less drowsy motion sickness pills, and found anything mint I could find.  I did ok.
Day four: I learned that if I eat with the food, I don't get as sick.  I need mint though. Lots of mint.

Basically, it gives you morning sickness.  If you have been pregnant, treat it as such.  Mint calms the stomach.  I have mnt growing at my house.  So, I go pick a couple of leaves and put it in my water (Oh!  Drink tons of water.  It helps with the headaches as well.)  I have mints in my car, and mint gum.  That alone helps me tons.

My plan is to try this out.  I lost over 100lbs before. If I can use this as a tool to regain my motivation and do it again, that would be awesome.  I'm hoping for the best!
